Adult Spinal Deformity
Adult Spinal Deformity
Patients presenting with spinal deformity to their primary care physicians seek evaluation and treatment for a variety of reasons. The wide range of presentation and degrees of symptoms require a very specialized or patient specific approach. On the other hand, some patients with deformity complain only of a change in body shape and concerns over appearance, but without pain or limitations. On the other end of the spectrum, there are patients suffering from chronic pain, neurologic deficit and marked deformity. It is helpful to have a general approach to the evaluation of the patient's spinal deformity and essential to then tailor treatment options to patient expectations and degree of symptoms.
