Partnering with surgeons at the National Children's Hospital (Hospital Nacional de Ninos) in Costa Rica's capital city San Jose, SpineHope launched a medical mission program in 2014 to help underprivileged children receive the treatment and surgeries they need for spinal deformities and other complex spine conditions. Our week long medical mission trips to Costa Rica have been a huge success, averaging 2 trips per year. With a waiting list of 100+ children in need of surgery, we have been able to provide care to almost 10% each visit. During our visits, our volunteer teams perform several life-changing operations; see dozens of children in clinic to recommend treatment plans and evaluate options; and both educate and train local surgeons and medical staff on innovative techniques and after-care procedures. Our host surgeons, their residents and hospital staff continue to show how dedicated they are to our program and have been wonderful to work with. Without our corporate sponsors, individual donors and committed SpineHope volunteers, these trips would not be possible. These collaborative efforts allow us to make a difference and we are grateful for their support!

Join SpineHope for a special benefit to help children and teens live fuller and more pain-free lives. Help them WALK TALL.

During our February 2015 trip, we had a team of 10 amazing volunteers who, along with our host hospital team, were able to perform 10 life-changing operations on 10 precious children and saw another 30 in clinic. In clinic, they were able to assess the progress of those children operated on in past trips and evaluate others for future visits. It was incredibly successful and the best part was seeing the smiles on the children's faces after their surgeries! We look forward to our next trip planned for Fall.
