 Richard Schwend, MD (Kansas City, MO) pioneered the trip in 2006. His week-long mission takes place twice each year. On average, the team evaluates 50-60 patients with complex spinal deformities each trip, and performs 6-10 procedures. The Ecuadorian mission is sponsored by generous support from the Damien House Foundation, Globus Relief, and Junta Beneficia. The dedication of local surgeons Dr. Ramirez Torres and Xavier Ramirez makes the mission possible.  |
