A "FAST TRACK" APPROACH TO ACTIVE FELLOWSHIP
The SRS would like to offer senior surgeons who have made a significant contribution to spinal deformity an opportunity to become SRS members through an accelerated program. The Fast Track System will bypass the five year candidate period and offer Active Fellowship if you meet all of the requirements that are highlighted below. The next application deadlines are December 1, 2009 or June 30, 2010.
Requirements - Must have before applying:
- 15 years or more in spine deformity practice and full professorship or equivalency.
- A clinical practice which includes 20% spinal deformity.
- 3 abstracts submitted to the SRS Annual Meeting or IMAST, or one accepted. Abstract submission must be within five years of the application date.
- Have attended 2 SRS meetings, either the SRS Annual Meeting or IMAST, prior to application submission. Meeting attendance must be within five years of the application date.
A complete application submission includes the following:
- Five copies of the completed Fast Track System application (original & four copies)
- Only 1 copy of the payment page is needed
- Five copies of your current Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Five letters of recommendation from current Active or Emeritus (previously Active) SRS members
- 1 of the 5 letters may be from the president of a local spine deformity society
- Letters may be sent directly to the SRS office
- A non-refundable $100 (USD) application fee (sliding fee scale available)
- Five copies of a current photo (you may either send a hard copy with the application or email an electronic copy to ntoro@srs.org)
If all items and requirements are met and approved by the Fellowship Committee and the Board of Directors then the surgeon will become an Active Fellow of the SRS and proceed with Active Fellowship responsibilities. The Fast Track Program will end June 30, 2014.

Fellowship in SRS carries with it a number of responsibilities, including submission of Morbidity and Mortality reports, attendance at annual meetings, and participation in Society projects and activities. Only Active Fellows may vote in SRS elections and hold office.
