Time Zone

Chicago is in the Central Standard Time Zone, which is six (6) hours behind of Greenwich Mean Time (7 hours behind during Daylight Savings Time).

Climate

Chicago has a humid continental climate which is defined by four distinct seasons. The summer months in Chicago are warm and humid with temperatures ranging from 65.3˚ F/ 18.5˚ C to 83˚ F/ 28.4˚ C.  

Electricity

The United States operates on 120 volts, compared to the standard 220 volts in Europe. 

Tipping/Etiquette

In Chicago, it is customary to tip between 15-20 percent depending on the quality of the service.

Transportation

Most flights arrive at O’Hare International Airport (ORD) in Chicago. The airport is located 13 miles and approximately 30 minutes outside of the city center and can be reached by taxi and train. 

Traveling to the U.S.
