Host Desc: Paediatric deformity surgery -Paediatric Spine Research Group - collaboration with Queensland University of Technology. Provides research expertise and facilities, access to medical image (CT and MR) datasets and clinical databases of scoliosis patients before and after surgery.
-Team comprises two senior spine surgeons, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Principal Spine Research Fellow, Research Project Coordinator, Postdoctoral Engineers, Spine fellows, Postgraduate students.

Research Opportunities: Pre-op CT based studies of anatomy and bone density in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (using the group's existing database of 88 pre-operative CT scans).
-Pre vs post-op CT comparison of lung volumes before and after single rod anterior thoracoscopic surgery for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (using existing series of 38 paired pre-post operative AIS patient CT scans).
- Sequential magnetic resonance imaging of growth and progression in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (using existing series of pre-operative sequential 3D 3 Tesla MR scans, 0.5mm voxel resolution covering scoliotic major curve in ~20 patients).
-Possibility for in vitro biomechanical studies in collaboration with Queensland University of Technology. QUT Biomedical Engineering laboratories are equipped with six axis spine testing robot, Instron biaxial tester with spine testing jig, various uniaxial testing machines, micro-CT scanner, Optotrack motion tracking system.
