About IMAST

The 33rd International Meeting on Advanced Spine Techniques (IMAST) in Toronto, ON, Canada is where leading spine surgeons, innovative researchers, and the most advanced spine technologies come together in an international forum to demonstrate and discuss recent advances in spine surgery. IMAST focuses on innovative and new methods/techniques for spinal pathology. Educational content includes instructional course lectures, four-minute paper presentations, case discussions, E-Point Presentations, and industry workshops, all lead by a multidisciplinary and international faculty.

Program

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of IMAST, participants should be able to: 

  1. Assess the strategic integration and clinical applicability of emerging technologies, such as advanced diagnostics and enabling platforms to drive innovation in complex spinal deformity management. 
  2. Formulate leadership strategies for effectively evaluating and implementing evidence-based practices and novel techniques to improve outcomes, minimize complications, and avoid pitfalls during the learning curve across diverse spinal pathologies.  
  3. Evaluate the next-generation minimally invasive and motion-preservation techniques, including endoscopic and robotic applications, to guide patient-centered decision-making and foster surgical excellence. 
  4. Cultivate impactful framework focused on building multidisciplinary spinal deformity teams for advancing global best practices in spinal care and enhancing innovations in education and training.

Hotel Room Rates

Single/Double Occupancy: C$339.00 (exclusive of applicable taxes)

  • Room rates are quoted in Canadian funds (CAD) and on a per room, per night basis.
  • Room rates are currently subject to a 6% (MAT) Municipal Accommodation Tax and 13% (HST) Harmonized Sales Tax and are subject to change.
  • Room rates are subject to a C$30 charge for each additional adult over double occupancy, to a maximum of three (3) persons per room.
  • Room rate includes complimentary standard wireless connected in all guest rooms.

Hotel Cancellation Policy

All cancellation and refund policies are at the discretion of the hotel.

  • Cancellation must be received a minimum of 72 hours prior to 23:59 local time (EDT) the day of arrival of check in date to avoid one night fee (room/tax).
  • Reservations cancelled outside of 72 hours prior to arrival are cancelled without penalty
Early Departure Policy
  • Guests will be asked to re-confirm the duration of their stay upon check-in. Subsequently, should the guest check out prior to the reconfirmed departure date, a C$75.00 per room, per night "early departure" charge will be applicable to the individual guest
SRS Policy

SRS cannot make or change hotel reservations.

All reservations, cancellations, and changes to reservations should be made directly through the InterContinental Toronto Centre online or by phone (+1-416-597-1400). All cancellation and refund policies are at the discretion of the hotel.

Meeting attendees are responsible for making their own hotel reservations. Reservations can be made online at the link provided or by calling the hotel’s reservation department and mentioning group name, Scoliosis Research Society.

Attendees are encouraged to book their hotel reservations at the SRS headquarter hotel. Staying at the headquarter hotel not only allows attendees to take advantage of special discounted room rates but also puts them in close proximity to all meeting events for maximum interaction with fellow attendees and faculty and a hassle-free experience. Additionally, booking in the block helps the Society avoid penalties for not filling its hotel block, which keeps meeting expenses and thus registration rates lower, and achieve a consistent hotel booking history that helps SRS continue to negotiate the lowest room rates possible for future meetings.

Airports

Toronto is served by two (2) major airports

  1. Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)
    • This is Toronto's primary international airport, located about 27km (17 miles) from the InterContinental Toronto Centre and Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
  2. Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ)
    • A smaller airport located on Toronto Islands, only 2 km (1.25 miles) from the InterContinental Toronto Centre and Metro Toronto Convention Centre. It's a great option for travelers flying in from U.S. destinations and regional flights.

Airline Discount

An exclusive airline discount is available by booking with Air Canada or another Air Canda Star Alliance carrier to Toronto (YTZ, YYZ). Please email meetings@srs.org for more information and to receive the promotion code. To receive the discount, flights must be booked using the promotional code. Discounts can apply to Air Canada flights operated by Air Canada’s regional partners and Star Alliance carriers (e.g. AC* operated by United Airlines).

Getting to Downtown Toronto from the Airports

  1. From Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)
    • UP Express (Union Pearson Express)
      • A fast, convenient train that connects Toronto Pearson Airport to downtown Toronto. Travel Time: 25 minutes | Cost: $12.35 CAD one-way.
      • Departure Location: The UP Express station is located on the ground floor of Terminal 1.
      • Arival Location: Union Station (the central transit hub in downtown Toronto).
      • Tip: The UP Express is the fastest and most efficient way to reach downtown Toronto, and trains depart every 15 minutes.
    • Taxis & Ride-Sharing (Uber, Lyft)
      • Taxis: You can find the taxi stand at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. 
      • Uber & Lyft: These ride-sharing services are available at both terminals. 
  2. From Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ)
    • Ferry to the Mainland & Walking
      • What it is: Billy Bishop Airport is located on Toronto Islands, and to reach the mainland, you will take a free ferry. The ferry operates 24/7 and is a quick 1-2 minute ride.
      • Travel Time: Approximately 5 minutes total to reach downtown.
      • Cost:Free.
      • Arrival Location: The ferry terminal is just steps away from the mainland, and you will be in downtown Toronto immediately upon arrival.
  3. Other Transportation Options for Getting around Toronto
    • Public Transit (TTC)
      • ​​​​​​​The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) offers convenient bus, streetcar, and subway services around the city.  TTC subway: If you are looking for an economical way to get around, consider taking the subway, which can take you across the city efficiently.
    • Taxis
      • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Taxis can be hailed on the street or booked via phone or app. 
    • Uber & Lyft
      • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Ride-Sharing services like Uber and Lyft are widely available throughout Toronto and can be an easy, comfortable way to get around. Simply use their apps to book a ride.

Affiliate Meeting Space

All affiliate function requests need to be submitted online. Click here for the online Affilate Space Request Form.

Once approved, SRS will handle all space requests on a first-come, first-served basis. All requests must go through the online approval process before space will be granted.

Please remember the following guidelines when requesting space for an affiliate function:

  • No entertainment functions, meetings, courses or social functions involving surgeon delegates may be scheduled to conflict with SRS meeting program hours, activity hours, exhibit hours or social events. Internal corporate meetings involving supporter or affiliate organization staff only are exempt from this limitation.
  • Entertainment and social functions must be in good taste and conform to the purpose of the meeting, as well as complying with all AdvaMed guidelines governing interaction with physicians.
  • SRS should be notified in writing of any special activities (whether entertainment, education or promotional in nature) planned by an affiliated company for the period during which SRS meeting function occur.
  • Announcements and invitations addressed to members of the medical profession concerning such industry events should clearly indicate the name of the corporate support and must in no manner imply directly or indirectly that the event is part of, or an official activity of, SRS.
  • Attendee lists provided by SRS to Corporate Supporters, either as part of the Benefits of Support outlined in the Corporate Support Program are intended for a one-time, meeting-related use only. All announcements and invitations addressed to SRS meeting delegates should be pre-approved by SRS.
  • Company is responsible for ordering F&B and/or AV needs for affiliate space. Company is responsible for all expenses and billing will be handled directly between the company and hotel.

What is IMAST?

The 33rd International Meeting on Advanced Spinal Techniques (IMAST) is an in person meeting experience that provides a scientific forum for leading spine surgeons, innovative researchers, and the most advanced spine technologies from around the world to come together to demonstrate recent advances in spine surgery. For two days, spine surgeons and other allied health professionals from around the world discuss, debate and demonstrate recent advances in spine surgery. Educational content includes didactic presentations, papers on current research, E-Point Presentations, case discussions, debates, instructional course lectures, and video demonstrations all lead by a multidisciplinary and international faculty.

What is appropriate attire for IMAST?

Business casual attire (collared shirts, and jeans or khakis) is appropriate for IMAST sessions.

Who can attend IMAST?

IMAST invites those who include spinal surgery techniques or technology in their profession, including spine surgeons (both orthopedic and neurological surgeons), residents, fellows, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, engineers, and company personnel.

Scientific Sessions for Registered Attendees Only

As an international medical professional organization, SRS is required to adhere to the guidelines set forth by MedTech Europe in its Code of Ethical Business Practice. This ensures compliance with the regulations of non-U.S. institutions and maintains alignment with SRS’s industry partners. Within this code it states that “It is not appropriate for a Guest of a Healthcare Professional to attend either Company Events (including satellite symposia) or Third Party Organised Educational Events (unless the individual qualifies as participant in their own right), nor is it appropriate, in the interest of maintaining scientific exchange, for a Guest to participate in related hospitality during such Events (for example, lunches, industry booths and coffee breaks) even when the Healthcare professional pays for the Guest’s expense.”

Under the MedTech Europe Code of Ethical Business Practice a guest is defined as “spouses, partners, family or guests of the Healthcare Professionals, or other person who does not have a bona fide professional interest in the information being shared at an Event.”

How do I register for IMAST?

Registration for the 33rd IMAST is open. Registering during the Advanced Registration period is encouraged. Please view the Registration Page for registration options and rates.

How long will registration be open?

The Early Registration Rate will be available until March 12, 2026. After that online registration will remain available at the late/on-site rate until April 1, 2026. (On-site registration will be available beginning April 15, 2026)

How do I receive the Reduced Rate Country Registration rate?

Individuals residing in the countries listed at the link above qualify for reduced registration rates. When registering online, delegates will automatically be placed in the correct registration class based on the details collected during sign-in process.

Can I pay for my registration by Wire Transfer?

How do I register multiple people to IMAST?

For information on registering a group of five (5) individuals or more, please email SRS at meetings@srs.org.

How do I obtain an invitation letter to attend IMAST?

Only participants registered for the meeting can obtain a personal invitation letter. Individuals that require an invitation letter to obtain a visa in order to attend the meeting must:

  1. Register for the meeting.
  2. Copy the online form. All information in the form is required by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in order to issue the letter of invitation.

SRS cannot assist participants with the visa application process and cannot intervene with embassies or consulates on behalf of participants. The letter of invitation does not financially obligate the Scoliosis Research Society in any way. Please see the Travel page for more information on invitation letters to obtain a visa.

CME & Membership

How do I get my CME Certificate?

To claim CME and download attendance certificates, go to the CME page and sign in with your last (family) name and your SRS ID#. You will need to indicate the sessions you attended and then a PDF certificate will be generated for you to download and print. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
