Scoliosis Research Society Announces the President’s $50K Challenge

This week at the 61st Annual Meeting in Sydney, Australia, the SRS President Suken Shah, MD, issued a challenge: Help raise $50K in one week for research. Billed as the President’s 50K Challenge, from October 3 through October 11, President Shah is matching 1:1 for all qualifying individual donations up to $50,000.

Since 1994, the SRS has awarded grants to 115 institutions in 15 countries, funded 244 projects and more than $8,600,000. Donating to fund research has long-standing implications for patient care.

Whether it’s Drs. Blount and Schmid who originally designed the Milwaukee brace to help control scoliosis in a growing child to the Lenke Classification, which has become the worldwide standard for classifying adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. SRS members have consistently led the advancements in diagnosis, treatment and recovery. The members of the Scoliosis Research Society have been leading scoliosis research for decades.

“Our mission is not simply to correct spines - it is to improve the quality of life of patients,” said Dr. Shah. “Through science, education, collaboration, and innovation, the SRS strives to ensure that every patient with a spinal deformity like scoliosis has access to the best possible care, anywhere in the world.”
